Shelburne Engine 3 is a 2004 KME Mini-pumper built on a Ford F-550 chassis and equipped with a Hale 500-gallon per minute single-stage pump and a 250-gallon water tank. This Engine is also equipped with a FoamPro 1600 foam system and a 20-gallon foam cell.
Even though this Engine is small, it is capable of generating 5 kW of electrical power, carries a 14-foot extension ladder and a crew of two.
Depending on the specific circumstances, Engine 3 is generally used for rural water supply, to support marine rescue operations and to respond to motor vehicle accidents. It has also been used successfully to support multiple hand-lines at structure fires by getting into locations that larger engines can’t.
